October 03 Gin, Tonic, and Salt in HanoiThis post is a bit too scandalous for my travel blog on Xanga (my parents read that one!), but this story is too good to not tell, so I'm posting it here.
So, 3 nights ago I was at this bar in Hanoi called 17 Saloon where the waitresses *really* don't like me. It's one of those bars that cater to Marines and sketchy foreign businessmen. The waitresses wear skimpy outfits and flirt furiously with the patrons, and could actually more appropriately be called "waitress-slash-hookers," since once their bar shift ends they start cruising for "friends." They don't like me because I regularly come to the bar with a bunch of American Marines, thus reducing the chances that any of them will partake in a little post-last-call call-girl-action, simply by virtue of being present and being a non-prostitute female. One of the waitresses (who had been avoiding taking my drink order for about 20 minutes) suddenly walked straight up to me and excalimed "mui chet ah!" 99.9% of the time I have no idea what people are saying to me here, but this is one of the few Vietnamese phrases I do know. It translates to: "do you want to die?" So freaking funny! Who goes around saying crap like that???? I responded by laughing hysterically and ordering a gin and tonic. When she brought it, it was full of SALT! Like, crazy full! One of the marines drank it. I love Hanoi... August 10 Most Recent Celebrity SightingTonight I was driving through Westwood and stopped at a red light and... TOPHER GRACE crossed the street right in front of my car! And he made eye contact! I hope he was thinking, "that girl's cute"... but he was probably thinking "bitch better not hit me." He was wearing a yellow tee-shirt and looking FINE.
July 30 Overheard today at Bikram YogaInstructor: "You should be pivoting on the heels of your feet, not the balls. Do not pivot on your balls! Is everyone paying attention to what I'm saying?!? No one should be pivoting on their balls!"
Heh heh. July 26 It's 99 freaking degrees!!!!!If I ever hear any of you Seattle peeps complaining about crappy weather again I'm going to:
It's 99 degrees outside which means that it's about 120 in my apartment. No joke. I went and bought an air conditioner last week and it does a great job cooling things down... in the 2 square feet directly in front of it. Here is a riddle: what sucks more than spending your summer hunched over a computer typing? A: Spending your summer hunched over a computer typing in a full on sweat. So gross. :( Poor meeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
Okay, that's it. I'm going to the beach.
Stay tuned, a new blog is on its way... August 22 SO long since I wrote...... and now I am experienceing Why Am I Such a Lazy Blogger Remorse. I may need to play catchup for a while and write about old events, but for now, here are some weekend highlights.
Last weekend (Friday Aug 12 - Sun Aug 14)
WINE TASTING AND CONCERT IN EASTERN WASHINGTON
Friday night Dave, Brad, Laura, Graham, Kerri, Josh, the Other Josh, Andy, and I met at Wild Ginger for a looooong dinner (that restaurant is so bad!) the drove to the lovely Red Lion Inn in Yakima. It was G-H-E-T-T-O!
MSN Spaces sucks ass BTW, for not letting me control where the pictures go or format my HTML the way I want. Seriously, I am getting so pissed! What a shitty, shitty blog engine. DO you hear me Microsoft?!?!? I'm talking to YOU! Grrrrrrrr.
Anyway, I was wiped out, but the rest of the crew was ready for a wild night on the town in Yakima. Everyone left without telling Dave and I (WTF guys!) and then we drove around lost for a while till we found them at a crazy local dive bar called Susie's... where Karaoke Night was in full swing. Yakima natives and an open mike... enough said. Played lots of computerized shuffle board or whatever and Graham sang Bright Eyes. Then FINALLY back to the Red Lion for far too few hours of sleep before wine tasting.
Okay, entry To Be Continued. Fighting with this shitty UI has exhausted me. July 07 Technology rocks!Just imed with Anusha in India... she has a webcam so it was almost like she was right here! It's so crazy to think that she is halfway around the globe. I need to get me a webcam too!
Went to the JConnect double header softball game today on Mercer Island - SO fun!! Josh, Saeed, Graham, Andy (spectator) and others were there. They tied the first game and lost the second. I am always so shocked to realize how fun sporting events are when I actually know people who are playing. The same game that is so mind-numbingly boring on TV becomes super exciting when you are there, in person, rooting for your friends.
Ran many (9-ish) miles today to Elliot Bay Marina and back. Felt good generally. Knee and foot hurt tho not horribly. Not a lot of snap in legs - speed intervals were hard - but felt like could run forever. May 04 Presents for the Piggy Princess ;)Pic from a few weeks ago at Brandon's... Thanks again guys! :D
